The Challenge
What Library Machine Was Facing
The founder had a simple but important hypothesis: small school libraries were still running on paper-based catalogues and could be digitised with a lightweight SaaS tool that a librarian could set up in an afternoon — no IT department required. The challenge was proving the hypothesis without over-building. If the core job could not be done simply, no amount of additional features would save it.
The Solution
What We Built
We scoped the MVP around the single most painful daily task: checking books in and out. We built barcode scan check-in/out, a basic catalogue, and overdue reminders via email. No RFID, no parent portal, no reporting suite. A librarian should be able to go live in under 2 hours. We tested that constraint with three real librarians in week 7 before launch.
