The Challenge
What Matrix Was Facing
Matrix was replacing a 15-year-old ERP system that their customer base had grown deeply dependent on. The biggest risk was not the technology — it was convincing existing users that a new product was worth the disruption of switching. They needed an MVP that felt immediately familiar, mapped to existing workflows precisely, and could absorb real production data from day one of the pilot.
The Solution
What We Built
We began with a workflow audit across four existing power users and built a feature map that compared old-system flows against proposed new flows. We cut any new capability that had no direct equivalent in the existing product — change management risk was the constraint, not ambition. The MVP was lean by design: it had to feel like an upgrade, not a replacement.
