What Mixmatch Color Was Facing
Mixmatch Color had a novel idea: an AI-assisted colour matching tool built specifically for interior designers, not the generic consumer colour apps already on the market. The founder needed to validate two assumptions simultaneously — that designers would pay for a professional-grade tool and that the AI colour matching was accurate enough to be genuinely useful in a client setting. Both had to be true for the business to work.
The Solution
What We Built
We built a focused MVP: upload a photo of a room, receive five coordinated colour palette suggestions with paint brand references, save palettes to a client project folder. No room visualisation rendering, no direct ordering, no design system integration. We recruited 12 interior designers as beta testers before building and designed the palette output format based entirely on what they told us they sent to clients.
